A couple years back three of my oldest friends and I met in Hawaii to celebrate the 70th birthday of our friend Naomi.

I was inspired by something she said about knowing when your time is up.

I would love to record her singing this song someday.

If I don’t see you tomorrow

And they say I’ve gone away

Know I always loved you

And we will meet again someday

Maybe out there somewhere

Where the stars still kiss the land

Maybe in the darkness

Where your spirit understands

Don’t cry for long when you hear this song

Or think any less of me

I had my time in your kingdom

It was never for eternity

Where I go and what I’ll find

And what I come to be

A secret inside a riddle

Wrapped in mystery

Don’t go bother looking

for someone your once knew

Look for a beautiful stranger

Unfamiliar, someone new

Hold them close as if they were

Tightly drawn to me

And know when you leave tomorrow

Somewhere I will grieve

Here’s to all our memories

And what’s to come and go

Which slips inside us briefly

And stays within our souls

If I don’t see you tomorrow

And they say I’ve gone away

Know I always loved you

We’ll meet again someday
